Academic Offering Maintenance Policy
The university certifies that all programs offered are the result of studies on social needs and scientific and professional demand. This process guarantees the relevance and suitability of the academic offering, which will be maintained for a period of no less than five years, ensuring that the program can generate a sufficient number of graduates who can apply their knowledge.
This will ensure that students are always engaged and that academic progress is satisfactory.
The university makes the following commitment to all its students:
- To solve all incidents to the extent possible.
- To update its contents every two years or at any required time.
- To update (if required) the sequence of curriculum planning every year.
- To update (if required) the studies program.
- To update methodologies at its discretion based on students’ success levels.
When applied, changes will not affect active students and will be regulated by the rules governing the students’ academic life, maintaining their study program for two years.
Commitment to Continue Studies in the Event of Institutional Closure (TEACH-OUT)
In the event of closure, the university guarantees that all active students complete their studies in accordance with the term of their contract.
The University:
- Will maintain a student service office for one year.
- Will keep a list of active students by program, including the following information: name, ID, (passport number or driver’s license), Login, estimated date of completion, and the student’s academic and financial status.
- Will continue offering its programs through the Virtual Campus until the student completes their studies, without any additional cost.
- Will apply the cancellation and reimbursement policies stated in the Student Agreement if the student decides not to continue with their studies.
Following the standards established in Article 48, Regulations for the Licensing of Higher Education Institutions in Puerto Rico of October 9, 2012, the Puerto Rico Education Council (CEPR).
- Will request the CEPR to take custody of the academic records from active and graduate students, through the delivery of their digital copies since the beginning of operations.
- Will notify active and graduate students and the CEPR about these measures through digital and physical means.
Complaints and Claims Process
The Complaints and Claims Process is a mechanism that allows students to channel their claims when they believe their rights have been affected, when they are dissatisfied with an administrative or faculty decision, or when they believe their ability to study or complete the program is compromised.
Both the administrative staff and the faculty will be allocated sufficient time to present their version of the facts. Subsequently, If necessary, the claim could be referred to law enforcement agencies in Puerto Rico.
This process will be continuously available on the UNIB website, in the Institutional Catalog, the Student Manual, and the Faculty Manual.
